What We Believe

Unity Church is part of Assemblies of God Great Britain, a nationwide family of Pentecostal churches. The beliefs below are the doctrine we hold in common with every AoG GB church, and they shape everything we do here.

  • The Bible

    We believe the Bible, Old and New Testaments, is God's inspired word and our final authority for what we believe and how we live.

  • One God, Three Persons

    We believe in one eternal God who exists as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • The Life of Jesus

    We believe in Jesus's virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross for our sin, bodily resurrection, and ascension. We believe He is interceding for us now and will return, personally and visibly, in power and glory: the hope every believer holds onto.

  • Humanity's Fall

    We believe people were created good, but chose to turn away from God, and that choice is why the world is broken.

  • Salvation Through Faith

    We believe salvation comes through faith in Christ alone, who died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Through His sacrifice, we're set free.

  • New Birth

    We believe that putting your faith in Jesus brings an immediate, complete change worked by the Holy Spirit: what the Bible calls being born again.

  • Baptism in Water

    We believe anyone who has repented and trusted in Christ should be baptised by full immersion in water, as an outward sign of that inward change.

  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit

    We believe in a further experience beyond salvation, where the Holy Spirit fills a believer with power for service, evidenced by speaking in tongues as the Spirit enables.

  • Gifts of the Spirit

    We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for the Church today, and we make room for them in how we gather and serve.

  • A Holy Life

    We believe following Jesus shapes how we live, and we aim for lives marked by holiness in obedience to God.

  • Divine Healing

    We believe healing from sickness is provided for through what Christ achieved on the cross, and we pray for it in faith.

  • Breaking of Bread

    We believe everyone who has trusted in Christ should regularly share in Communion together as a church family.

  • Resurrection and Eternity

    We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: everlasting life with God for those who truly believe in Jesus, and eternal separation from Him for those who don't.
